John M. Ballard, 36, of Dayton, Nevada was arrested Wednesday afternoon in a midtown motel on sex charges. He had made arrangement to meet an undercover police detective who was posing on the Internet as a pedophile, at the motel where the detective was to bring a juvenile female. Ballard was booked on three counts of attempted child molestation and attempted production of child pornography and is being held in the Sacramento County jail in lieu of $600,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today.
