DARTMOUTH MEDICAL STUDENT SENTENCED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE

Robert McKelvey, 28, of St. Louis has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. The former Dartmouth Medical School student who had been studying to be a pediatrician must spend three years on supervised release after his release. He must register as a sex offender wherever he is living during that time, he may not live or loiter near parks or schools and must have no contact with children. According to the Associated Press, he has also been ordered to pay restitution to the family of one of the victims to pay for

legal fees and psychological counseling. In a search, child pornography involving 8 to 10 year old boys was found by authorities in his apartment. McKelvey was expelled from Dartmouth after someone reported seeing him with a 9 year old boy in a locker room in the College gym in March 1994. While he worked as a volunteer in a big brother-little brother program, he made child pornography of a young boy.
