79-YEAR-OLD MIDWEST CITY MAN ARRESTED ON 25 LEWD ACTS, ADMITS TO MOLESTING CHILDREN

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. —
A 79-year-old Midwest City man was arrested on Monday on 25 counts of lewd acts after admitting to molesting several children, according to Midwest City police.
According to an affidavit released Tuesday by police, the investigation began after a young child said that 79-year-old Jerry Darrel Newman makes her watch videos and touches her inappropriately. Police said they spoke with Newman, who admitted that he had molested several children and said he needed to talk to someone about it.
During an interview with police, Newman admitted he had touched six children, ages 4 to 17, in an inappropriate way, sometimes while he was watching porn.
Newman said he began touching some of the victims inappropriately a few years ago, according to police.
According to the affidavit, Newman said he was confronted by others about the incidents and he wanted to, “get this off his chest,” the affidavit stated.
Newman admitted to touching the children a total of 48 times, police said. He was booked into the Midwest City Jail Monday night.
