ACLU DEFENDS CHILD-SEX GROUP (Gay activists sued by slain boy’s kin)

Charles Jaynes, 25, and Salvatore Sicari, 24, were convicted in the molestation and murder of 10 year old Jeffrey Curley of Cambridge in 1997.  Jaynes allegedly viewed the North American Man/Boy Love Association Web site shortly before the murder and also had NAMBLA publications.  Saying important First Amendment issues are at stake, the American Civil Liberties Union is stepping in to defend the group that advocates sex between men and boys against a lawsuit brought by Jeffrey's family.  They claim that the NAMBLA and its Web site incited the molestation and murder of Jeffrey.  The Massachusetts chapter of the ACLU said yesterday it will defend NAMBLA because the group's activities are protected under First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and freedom of association.
