ACRES GREEN SEX OFFENDER LIVED AT DAY CARE HOME

When 29-year-old James D. Christner was questioned about an alleged indecent exposure, it was discovered that the registered sex offender was under a restraining order prohibiting him from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.  State regulators did not know that Christner was living in a Douglas County home where a licensed day care facility operated until a parent complained.  The day care provider is Barbara Christner, his mother.  She had listed on her original license application that her son, James, was a registered sex offender, but he didn't live in her home and only visited on Sundays but when he re-registered on May 22, he showed his new address to be his parent's home and the day care provider did not notify the state of this change.  Barbara Christener was immediately contacted after a parent complained about not being informed of a sex offender living in the home and she voluntarily surrendered her license to care for up to six children.
