An Altoona man has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing two young girls.
Jason Adkins, 45, will serve two years apiece for counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child, both aggravated misdemeanors. Three felony charges of sexual assault were dismissed. Adkins also will be registered as a sex offender for life.
Court records show Adkins entered an Alford plea in September, meaning he maintained his innocence but acknowledged prosecutors had strong evidence and wished to take advantage of the plea deal rather than going to trial. Adkins was sentenced Nov. 11.
The case began in May 2019 after the two minors reported Adkins touching and fondling them on multiple occasions starting in 2015. The victims were younger than 13 when the abuse began.
