Ariel Castro, 53, faced four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape in connection tothe disappearance of three women held for a decade in a home in Cleveland.  Police believethat Amanda Berry, 27,Michelle Knight, 32, and Gina DeJesus, about 23, were held against their willin Castro's house since their teens or early 20s.  The kidnapped women and a six-year-oldgirl, believed to be Berry's, were rescued Monday after Berry kicked through a locked screen doorand called 911 on a neighbor's phone.
On August 1, Castro was sentenced to life plus 1,000 years in prison.  He pleadedguilty to 937 counts, including murder and kidnapping, in exchange for the death penalty beingtaken off the table.  During the sentencing, he denied being abusive and insisted that most ofthe sex was consensual.  The convicted kidnapper and rapist was found dead on Tuesdayevening.  Castro was found hanging in his prison cell.
