BILL REQUIRING CHEMICAL CASTRATION FOR SOME CHILD RAPISTS
A bill requiring some child rapists to submit to chemical castration has passed the Senate on a 26-4 vote. If a person convicted of first-degree sexual penetration of a child less than 13 who is paroled, it would require them to undergo the treatment and it would extend the length of
parole to the life of the offender. If the person has undergone or does undergo a permanent surgical alternative to hormonal chemical treatment, he would be exempt. A court could decide the treatment was no longer necessary. According to the Associated Press, the bill was
passed with no debate.
