CANADIAN FREED IN RAPE-KILLINGS

Ken Murray, 52, the one time lawyer for killer Paul Bernardo, was cleared of obstruction charges despite evidence that he obstructed justice by concealing tapes of Bernaardo sexually torturing girls.  The tapes, which were hidden from authorities for 17 months, showed Bernardo and his then-wife and accomplice, Karla Homolka, sexually assaulting two teenagers before they were murdered, and sexually assaulting two other 15 year old girls, one known as Jane Doe, and Karla's younger sister, Tammy.

Homolka, now 35, was released on July 5, 2005, from prison after serving 12 years for her role in the rape, torture and killing of the girls.  She was convicted in 1993 after pleading guilty to manslaughter and agreeing to testify against Bernardo.  He was convicted of first degree murder in the two deaths.
