Woodolph Romeo, a 25 year old Long Island man, was charged yesterday with forcing two girls, ages 13 and 14, into prostitution for three years in Queens, repeatedly beating and raping them and forcing one to have his name tattooed on her arm.  Both girls were runaways who Romeo forced to work as prostitutes in an area near Kennedy Airport known as The Track since October 2001.  The girls were picked up by customers and forced to perform sex acts for $40 to $100 on as many as 15 men

JoAnn Buchanan, a family friend who occasionally baby sate for 6 year old Patricia Ann Miles, who disappeared after riding her bicycle to a grocery store, was charged with kidnapping her.  Patricia’s bicycle and her shoes were found August 16 in a cornfield.  Buchanan refused to speak to investigators.  A judge set bond at $1 million for her today.

A 13 year old girl walking home alone from school on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn was kidnapped andraped by three young men and a teenage girl in a van. The four youths tried to recruit the girl asa prostitute. They forced her inside the vehicle, demanding she work for them as a hooker. The girlrefused their demands and they drove off before several of them raped and assaulted her in thevehicle. The victim managed to escape and provided cops with details of the crime, leading to thearrests

Warfield Raymond Wike, Jr., a 48 year old convicted child killer, has died in prison of natural causes on July 16, 16 years after he abducted two sisters from their Florida home and killed the younger one.  He had been imprisoned since 1989 and spent much of the time on Death Row.

Eddie Albert Crawford, a 57 year old man who kidnapped, raped and murdered his 2 year old niece, was executed last night after the Supreme Court rejected his request for a stay.  Defense attorneys had argued DNA testing of two newly discovered hairs could prove he is not the killer.  Crawford was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m. after 20 years on death row, two trials and a seven-month delay since his execution was originally scheduled for December.
