David Westerfield, a 50 year old design engineer, charged with murder and kidnapping in the disappearance of 7 year old Danielle van Dam, who disappeared from her San Diego home in February was convicted August 21, 2002 and now has been sentenced to death. Westerfield was also convicted of possessing child pornography by a jury that deliberated for nearly 10 days.

An autopsy confirmed that the body of a child found by a rural road was that of Danielle. Authorities said they found traces of Danielle’s blood in Westerfield’s

New Jersey radio and TV stations, as well as highway advisory signs, became the latest to join the Amber Alert program.  After a child abduction is reported, and if there is a threat of death or serious injury, the State Police notifies the media, which will broadcast information about the child and kidnapper.

A boy kidnapped when he was 2 weeks old was found six years later living with his mother’salleged attacker. Latasha Brown, 22, was charged with homicide and kidnapping after she was takenoff a Greyhound bus in Suisun City on Friday. Le-Zhan Williams has been attending a Vallejo schooland living in Vallejo under a false name.

Her mother, Delores Ann Brown, 44, was later charged with concealing a child.

Alisha Ludwig, 31, offered to take 11 year old Nicole Hayward to a store to shop for jeans and to grab a snack.  Hayward is the niece of Mike and Cindy Costello and Ludwig a friend of theirs.  At first, when they didn’t return, the Costellos thought they had been abducted.  But when law-enforcement officials began tracking usage of Ludwig’s credit cards, their images showed up on a hotel security camera.  Late Saturday night, the pair were spotted on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.  The girl was unharmed and Ludwig was

Miguel Figueroa, 32, was found guilty of first degree murder yesterday in the rape and stabbing death of 13 year old Shaline Seguinot, whose body was found behind a Camden school in 1995.  Figueroa will not face the death penalty because the jury of nine women and three men could not reach an unanimous decision of whether the defendant committed the murder by his own conduct.  Shaline disappeared August 4, 1995, while riding her bicycle near her grandmother’s Camden home.  Her naked body was found three days later in the

Ward Weaver has been jailed since August 13 when he was arrested on rape charges involving his 19 year old son’s girlfriend.
