A 71-year-old sex offender in Roswell has been arrested after police said he tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car when she got off the school bus.

William Howard was arrested on charges of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Police said Howard is a registered sex offender from Florida who was previously convicted in 2011 of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim 12 – 15 years old.

Police said they started to investigate the incident on Feb. 16 after a parent reported that Howard offered to give her daughter

A woman searching the Virginia State Police sex offender registry on the Internet recognized aregistered sex offender. Garry Wayne Lilly, 39, now faces a new charge. He is charged withaggravated sexual battery of a victim under 13. Authorities were notified of the alleged abuseafter the child’s aunt visited the web site. He faces a grand jury hearing on April 26th and isbeing held without bond at Augusta County Jail since his arrest on February 3rd.
