SARANAC, Mich. — A 65-year-old Saranac man was arraigned Monday in connection to child sexually abusive materials found in his home.
Daniel Campbell was arraigned on two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree, three counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials and one count of using a computer to commit a crime, according to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office.
He is being held in the Ionia County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

CLARE COUNTY, Mich. – A 49-year- old Houghton Lake man is now behind bars and facing charges after a seven month investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy.
In February of 2020, a request was made for the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post to assist with the investigation.
According to MSP, the alleged assault reportedly happened in Clare County.
The investigation revealed other attempts to commit sexual assault against other young males within the state.

Ken Gourlay, 29, was accused at a congressional hearing of molesting a teenage boy and has been convicted of charges including enticing a child to engage in sexually abusive activity.  He was convicted Friday in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and faces more than 20 years in state prison.  He was accused of sexually assaulting Justin Berry and using him to produce and distribute child pornography over the Internet.

Dr. Charles Bruce Fraelich, a 58 year old Child Psychologist of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Beverly B. The Rev. Shamaun Beas, a 35 year old priest, was arrested in an Internet sex sting after allegedly arranging to meet someone he thought was a 14 year old girl. He was charged with offenses including sexually abusive activity involving a child and using a computer to commit a crime. He was arrested after driving by a home near Detroit where he had agreed to meet an investigator posing as the teenage girl in an Internet chat room. Beas is a visiting priest from Pakistan.
