HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville man was arrested Sunday after Nassau County police say he broke into a woman’s home and forcibly touched her.

According to police, Carlos Villeda, 58, broke into the home of a 42-year-old woman on East Street in Hicksville at 9:10 p.m. Once inside, police say he began to forcibly grab and touch the woman.

The woman told him to leave, and he headed out the front door, police said. The woman closed and locked the door behind him and then called 911.

Nassau County Legislator David Mejias proposed a bill yesterday aims at barring convicted sexoffenders on probation from having computer access to social Web sites where they could prey onyoungsters.  Sex offenders who used a computer in their crime could be required to registertheir computers with the county and allow the installation of monitoring software as a condition ofprobation.

The Valley Stream Board of Trustees has passed a local law imposing residency restrictions on convicted sex offenders living in the village.  The measure was approved unanimously Monday.  The law bars offenders from living within 1,000 feet of any public or private nursery, elementary, middle or high school, licensed day care center or playground.

The Village of Mineola has been added to the growing list of Long Island municipalities restricting where registered sex offenders can live.  The five-member village board voted 5-0 in favor of the bill last night following a hearing in which about two dozen residents came out to support the measure and even called for more restrictions.
