The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that lie-detector tests can be used to ensuresex offenders are obeying probation and that a ban on Web use is appropriate for some offenders.The ruling pertained to Jeffrey Johnson, an aerospace engineer who had used the Web to conductsexually explicit conversations with children from 1995-1997. He received more than seven years inprison and three years’ probation after admitting to luring several kids to meetings and having sexwith two victims.
