HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – A new lawsuit alleges officials at a Big Island school were aware of allegations a staff member was sexually abusing a special education student but did nothing.

Stanton Caluag, 64, was an educational assistant at Kealakehe High School. He is now serving a year in jail after he pleaded guilty to third-degree sex assault in June.

The victim was 18 at the time and his grandmother said Caluag began molesting him two months after his mother died.

An ex-Springboro gym teacher is expected to be resentenced for sex crimes against first grade girls during classes in his first full-time year teaching in the school district.
On June 3, Judge Robert Peeler sentenced John Austin Hopkins, 26, of Springboro to eight years in prison and designated Hopkins a Tier II sex offender, concluding a three-hour sentencing hearing in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
On Monday, Assistant Warren County Prosecutor Kirsten Brandt filed a brief in the Twelfth District Court of Appeals calling for Hopkins’ resentencing.

The first female to publicly say she was sexually abused by a team doctor at the University of Michigan says she hopes to inspire other women and men to come forward.

Cathy Kalahar, who played tennis for the Wolverines in the 1970s, joins hundreds of Michigan graduates who have already alleged that doctor Robert Anderson molested them. Anderson died in 2008.

Kalahar told The Associated Press on Monday that Anderson assaulted her during an exam when she was a freshman in 1973, when the school had its first women’s tennis team.

A Florida teacher has been charged with having oral sex with a 15-year-old boy at a school graduation ceremony — getting busted after bragging about it to other guests, according to officials.

NEWOPRT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) — A substitute teacher has been arrested and charged for possessing child pornography.

On Friday, the Special Victims Unit of the Newport News Police Department executed a search warrant on the residence of 50-year-old Michael Scott Porter of Newport News. Officers found Porter was in possession of child porn.

Porter is a former substitute teacher for the Newport News Public Schools and Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge.  Police have charged

A Connecticut high school teacher was arrested for allegedly having sex a handful of timeswith a special education student, then denying and destroying evidence of the acts.
