DUXBURY, MASS. (AP) — The parents of a Massachusetts man who died of a drug overdose last year have sued their son’s middle school gym teacher who they allege repeatedly raped him, and the school district for failing to protect the boy.
Joseph and Melissa Foley are seeking $1 million in a lawsuit filed in Plymouth Superior Court this week against the Duxbury Public Schools and teacher John Blake.
Their son, Joseph Parker Foley, died last October at age 27, their attorney, Jason Morgan, told The Patriot Ledger.

A federal appeals court upheld a life prison sentence Monday for an influential Iowa youth basketball coach who used his position to sexually exploit more than 400 boys over 20 years.

A panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Gregory Stephen’s argument that his 180-year sentence was excessive because he did not kill or physically injure his victims.

A former Administration for Children’s Services employee who admitted having sex with his two daughters, one of their friends, and the daughter of a girlfriend and co-worker was sentenced yesterday to 18 to 24 years in prison.  All the victims were underage when the 42 year old defendant began assaulting them.  The defendant, who worked for ACS for 10 years, pleaded guilty on January 30 to criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of second degree rape and incest.
