A 13 year old told police she was sodomized by a man behind an abandoned building in Stapleton. She said she was walking on Van Duzer Street around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man, described as a black man, in his mid 20s or early 30s, and about 5 foot 6, accosted her from behind. John Vodicka, a 36 year old Baldwin High School science teacher and track team coach, wasarrested January 9, 2003, for sexually abusing a 16 year old female student. Vodicka, of 29 NorthStreet, Syosset, inappropriately touched the girl on four occasions between October 1999 and May2000. The abuse took place in an empty classroom during school hours. During that time, he alsoe-mailed pornographic photographs to the victim’s house. He was arraigned on six counts of felonyfirst degree disseminating indecent material to a minor, and four counts of third degree sexualabuse,
A 13 year old girl claims that a Board of Education employee who works at an Ocean Hill public school sexually abused her. The suspect is a guidance counselor at PS 73, at 241 MacDougal Street. The victim told her mother and her daughter went back to the school and reported the incident to school official and to police. No arrests have been made in the alleged incident, which remains under investigation.

A 9 year old girl was found by police in the lobby of an Upper West Side building early yesterday morning. She may have been sexually abused. The child was discovered wandering inside the building on West 111th Street, where she does not live. The girl’s mother called and reported her daughter missing an hour later at 3:09 a.m. She said her child was asleep at midnight, around the time the mom went to bed. The Special Victims Squad is investigating.
