Russell Otis, a 38 year old coach of a prominent high school basketball team, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having sex with a minor.  The coach, who has not been charged, is from Dominguez High.  Authorities said they are investigating him for suspicion of sexual battery, sodomy and oral copulation with a person under 18.  Otis’ original bail of $50,000 was increased to $100,000.  He posted bail and was released.

Dan Marino, 45, a former head football coach at New Hyde Park High School, has been designated a Level 1 sex offender and received three years’ probation for having an affair with a 16 year old student last year.  He pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted rape and was fired.  He will continue to get sex therapy and will undergo any additional treatment deemed necessary by the probation department.  He must tell police where he lives every year for the next decade.

Dick Williams, 70, was arrested on an indecent exposure charge while attending the World Series of Fantasy Baseball Camp.  Williams, who managed the Oakland Athletics to two World Series titles, was accused of walking naked and masturbating outside his Fort Myers hotel room on January 17th.  He pleaded no contest at a hearing, the judge withheld judgment and he was released on time served.

Jason Graff did not appear to look at the screen even once as images and videos from his computer were played for the jury Tuesday during the first day of testimony in the child pornography case against him.  The 17 computer-generated videos and at least two dozen still images were presented as evidence taken from a computer in the master bedroom of Graff’s house on August 11, 2006.  About half the images depict sexual acts with pre-school age girls.  Graff is charged with possession of five and dissemination of two

Peter James PJ Halas, a 29 year old history teacher and basketball coach at Point Pleasant Borough High School in Ocean County, New Jersey, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15 year old female student over a four-month period. He was freed on $100,000 bail.  Halas is a noted Ivy League athlete and the scion of an American sports dynasty.  He is the great-grand-nephew of football Hall of Famer George Papa Bear Halas.

Matthew Taylor, a Littleton, Colorado gymnastics coach who was accused of molesting children inhis club, was facing 17 counts of sexual assault, and charges he molested a 12 year old gymnast.Before he killed himself during a shoot-out with Utah State Patrol, he wrote a farewell note to hisparents.
