Terry Lee Hurst Jr., 48, was arraigned in Ionia County Circuit Court last Tuesday before Judge Ronald Schafer. Hurst appeared from the Ionia County Jail, where he has been held since Feb. 18. His attorney, Jeff Perlman, appeared via Zoom.

Hurst is charged with five counts of CSC in the first degree to a victim under 13 years of age, five in the second degree, one in the third degree and one in the fourth degree.

First-degree CSC is a felony that carries a mandatory minimum of 25 years up

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — In a first-of-its-kind case, an Air Force general convicted of a sex crime will not have to go to jail for it.

The court found Cooley guilty for forceful kissing, which was one of three specifications of an abusive sexual contact charge Cooley had been accused of.

Spectrum News 1 is not naming the victim, but the victim’s lawyer spoke out.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A former Grand Rapids schools teacher was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for persuading a Florida teen to produce and send him sexually explicit photographs.
Philip Paauwe, 33, earlier pleaded guilty to coercion or enticement of a minor – age 15 to 17 – for convincing the girl to send the photos, which constitute child pornography.
Paauwe was sentenced Thursday, Sept. 12, by U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo. The judge ordered Paauwe to serve 10 years on supervised release

The government reports that military veterans in prison are more than twice as likely to have been convicted for sex offenses than non-veteran inmates.  A study released yesterday by the Bureau of Justice Statistics compared the populations of inmates who served in the military and those who did not.  Veterans are half as likely to be incarcerated than the overall male population in the first place, but 23 percent of the veterans in prison are sex offenders, compared with 9 percent of non-veteran inmates.
