LONDON – Scottish ex-First Minister Alex Salmond, one of Scotland’s best-known politicians, is due to go on trial Monday accused of sex crimes including attempting to rape a woman at the leader’s official residence.
Salmond, 65, faces a total of 14 charges — one of attempted rape, 11 alleged sexual assaults and two alleged indecent assaults — against 10 women between 2008 and 2014. He denies all the allegations.

A 48-year-old top aide to Miami’s mayor reportedly sent a picture of his penis to a minor in mid-January, according to an incident report released Wednesday.
Rene Pedrosa, Mayor Francis Suarez’s former spokesperson, allegedly sent the picture to the teenager and requested some kind of photo on Jan. 19, the Miami Herald reported.
Pedrosa resigned Tuesday after the mayor said he admitted he was being investigated for “personal misconduct.”

SHELBY — A 2018 Ohio statehouse candidate has been charged with three felony sex crimes involving a juvenile, according to Shelby Municipal Court records.
Those state charges will likely become federal allegations next week, according to a spokesperson for the FBI’s Cleveland office. FBI agents executed a Shelby search warrant Wednesday at the suspect’s home, results of which are still sealed.

Anibal Ortiz, a 41 year old former Democratic Party district leader and ex-cop, was convicted by a Brooklyn jury of sodomizing the 13 year old sister of his ex-fiance. The girl was sodomized while he showed her a porno tape.  He faced up to seven years behind bars at sentencing for sodomy, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.  Judge James Sullivan put Ortiz behind bars for three to six years yesterday.  With the sentence, he scolded him for violating the girl he was supervising while his ex-fiancee

William Osterer, was arrested yesterday and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree for allegedly violating a court order of protection.  Osterer, who ran unsuccessfully as a Democrat for the 21st State Assembly District in 1990, surrendered to authorities about 8 a.m.  He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead yesterday.  The amount of bail set and whether he was released could not be determined last night.  Osterer was arrested in 1996 on charges he sexually abused two girls, ages 10 and 8, who were visiting his home.
