About 19 months after resigning from his position as teaching pastor at Highpoint Church, Andy Savage is starting a new church in Memphis, according to a filing with the state and an audio recording of an “interest meeting” for the new church.

Savage resigned from his position at Highpoint after being accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl in Texas about 20 years ago while her youth pastor.

Rodney A. Jackson, Jr., a 29 year old former private school teacher and youthpastor, was arraigned last week in First District Court in Central Islip on charges related to analleged sexual relationship he had with a 16 year old female student at Our Savior New AmericanSchool in Centereach in April 2006.  Jackson, of Holbrook Street in Patchogue , pleaded notguilty to one charge of third degree criminal sexual act and one count of endangering the welfareof a minor.  Bail and bond were set at $150,000.

Matthew Maiello, a 31 year old man who formerly directed the youth ministry at St. Raphael’sRoman Catholic Church in East Meadow, was charged with sexually abusing two teenagers he metthrough the parish. Maiello, of 39 Grove Street in Lynbrook, was arrested in the parking lot ofKellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale on April 4, 2003. Carlos Desuze, a 32 year old former youth minister from Baldwin, was charged with third degree statutory rape yesterday after a 17 year old girl told her parents and police she was having a sexual relationship with the minister that began when she was 16.  Desuze was arrested at his parents home at 984 Steele Blvd., in Freeport.  He had been employed as a youth minister for the Word of Life Ministries in Freeport for the past five years until a month ago.  He knew the teen and her family
