Robert J. Wolstromer, a 40 year old Coram man, has been arrested for following members of the Sayville High School girls’ soccer team in his car.  Wolstromer, of 1014 Skyline Drive, had allegedly been following the girls in a maroon Ford Taurus since as long ago as the fall, including once when he tailed the team bus to a soccer game in Nassau County.

Senator Charles Schumer said yesterday, two proposals in Congress would make it harder for registered sex offenders to use the Internet for stalking children and trading child pornography.  On measure would require registered sex offenders to submit e-mail and instant-message addresses and other identifying Internet information to authorities to be placed on the National Sex Offender Registry.  The second proposal would require Internet service providers to report online child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  Governor Spitzer yesterday signed into law a bill designed to make

Andrew S. Marks, a 44 year old Westbury man with previous arrests for inquiring about young girls’ feet, was arrested again yesterday for stalking a 17 year old girl and asking about her feet, shoes and socks.  Marks, of 338 Ivy Avenue, is to appear in court today on a charge of third degree stalking.  In a previous case in Suffolk County, Marks, a high school basketball referee, resigned from Section VIII, Nassau’s athletic association, after he was ejected from Cold Springs Harbor High School on December 8.  He resigned

Attorney general Alberto Gonzales announced a new public service campaign yesterday that will warn teenage girls against posting information on the Internet that could put them at risk of attack by child predators.  Every day, these predators are looking for someone to hurt, Gonzales said.  Every day, we must educate parents and children about the threat.  According to a Justice Department study, one in seven children using the Internet has been sexually solicited and one in three has been exposed to unwanted sexual material.  One in 11 has been harassed.

Joseph Gioe, a 42 year old Freeport man, pleaded not guilty yesterday to stalking a 16 year old girl in her neighborhood.  Gioe, of 210 Gordon Place, is accused of following the girl through back streets in a white Mercury Sable, around 4:50 p.m. Friday.  He is charged with stalking and endangering the welfare of a child and was held on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
