Jose Rodriguez, 33, of Island Park, a convicted rapist, was arrested after members of a Long Beach community rallied together and helped capture the man who tried to lure a 12 year old girl into his car after she got off a school bus earlier this month. He was arraigned on June 21 on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. After his arrest, Rodriguez admitted to trying to coax the girl into his car. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Joseph Mosomi, a 25 year old Valley Stream man, is charged with felony stalking, a law that went into effect in New York in December 1999.  He was arrested in the alleged stalking of a 10-year-old girl he met in his neighborhood.  He pleaded not guilty and was released from Nassau County jail after posting $2,500 cash bail.  Mosomi, an acquaintance of the girl’s family, began approaching the girl in December when she was playing outside her home.  Although there was no sexual touching, sometimes he hugged the girl and

According to Newsday, Brian Yass, 45, a Bay Shore stock broker and father of two, was arrested for allegedly stalking a 14 year old girl at her bus stop and home over the last two weeks.  He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and released on $1,500 bail.  He is charged with third degree stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.  Both charges are misdemeanors.
