SAN ANTONIO (WOAI) – A 9-year-old boy is safe after police say he was kidnapped and almost trafficked to another city, but police were able to track him down just in time.

Police spent the entire night tracking down the child until he was found inside a car at a local grocery store.

Things ended around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at an H-E-B on the South Side off Goliad Road and Southeast Military Drive.

Police said the boy was kidnapped in the downtown area and authorities were immediately

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A former Roman Catholic priest is scheduled to be sentenced Friday in Santa Fe, where a jury found him guilty this year of sexually abusing an altar boy in the early 1990s before fleeing the country.

Bexar County law enforcement agencies arrested or indicted 37 people on child sex crime charges in August, according to court records.

The suspects were charged with a an array of crimes, including indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child and super aggravated sexual assault of a child.

August had the second highest number of suspects that were either arrested or indicted on child sex crimes so far this year. In July, 42 people had child sex crime charges,

GREENVILLE, Pitt County — After the arrests last month of two previous sex offenders for failing to let the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office know when they were released from jail on unrelated charges, the department is putting all registered sex offenders on notice — saying they will be ‘aggressive’ in making sure those requirements are followed.

North Carolina law requires offenders to let their local sheriff’s department know where they are living, in person, within three days of their release from jail.

Police and the Department of Homeland Security launched an early-morning raid Monday on a family-run day care in the Miami-Dade County area as part of a child pornography investigation.

Alvin Lewis Pack, 33, of Mount Hebron Road in Old Fort is charged with solicitation by computer,sex offender registry violation (failure to disclose online identifiers) and first-degree forciblesex offense.
