A Post investigation reveals that dozens of child molesters convicted of the most heinous crimeson the youngest of victims are living within blocks of elementary and middle schools all overBrooklyn. Several convicted offenders live in a halfway house only three blocks from an elementaryschool and two convicted sex offenders now live within a couple of blocks of PS 329 in ConeyIsland. The revelations emerged less than a month after parents in Sheepshead Bay were shocked bythe discovery that Charles Weaver, 47, was living across the street from PS 254. He was convictedin 1990 of sodomizing a 10 year old girl and received five to 15 years in prison. More than 15pedophiles are living within one block of a school in Brooklyn, including:

- Ferdinand Mendez, 26, received up to four years in prison for sodomizing a 3 year old girl in1998 and is living near PS 329 on Surf Avenue in Coney Island.

- Timothy Williams, 37, was convicted of having repeated sexual contact with a 6 year old girlin another state.

- Robert Jones, 49, was convicted and sentenced to one to five years in state prison for rapinga 13 year old girl in 2000. He now lives within a block of IS 391 in Flatbush.

- John Reed, 46, received up to six years in prison in 1996 for sexually abusing an 8 year oldgirl. he now lives a block away from PS 297 in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

- Albert Gaines, 45, received seven years in prison in 1993 for deviate sexual intercourse witha 13 year old in another state. Children pass his residence on their way to PS 219 inBrownsville.

- Fred Robinson, 40, was sentenced to four to 12 years in state prison in 1993 for sodomizing an11 year old boy. His address is Saratoga Avenue, in zip code 11233, one block from a school.

According to the state's sex offender registry, none of them are supposed to have any contactwith someone under the age of 18 without the written consent of their parole officers. Over half ofthe 77 pedophiles identified as posing a high risk of repeating their crimes, have settled downwithin five blocks of a school.

Students from JHS 227 pass the building on 65th Street in Bensonhurst where sex offender KellyVelez lives. He served a year for sexually abusing an 8 year old boy.

- Carlos Vega, 43 - Abused a 9 year old girl in 1998. He lives on Herkimer Street, four blocksfrom a school.

- G. Alex Allen, 56 - Sodomized two boys, ages 13 and 17 in 1999. He lives on East 36th Street,four blocks from a school.

- Thomas DeGroat, 43 - Raped a 14 year old girl in 1995. He lives on Kenilworth Pl., threeblocks from a school.

- Harry Elliot, 36 - Raped a 15 year old girl in 1997. He lives on Farragut Road, two blocksfrom a school.

- Anthony Hayden (aka Shakeen Muhammed), 56 - Raped a 16 year old boy in 2000. He lives onNostrand Avenue, two blocks from a school.
