CONVICT COACHED IN CITY, POLICE SAY

The Telegraph/Andrew Wolfe

Kingsford Swan, a 53 year old registered sex offender, coached at least
seven child figure skaters at Conway Arena over three years until his
past and the law caught up with him.  He was arrested at his home in
the Jamaica Plain section of Boston early Wednesday morning and later
released after promising to surrender himself to Nashua police later
that afternoon.  Swan is charged with breaking a state law that
prohibits registered sex offenders from working with or caring for
children, whether paid or on a volunteer basis.  The charge is a
felony, punishable by up to 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison.  Swan's
original conviction didn't involve a child and he has not been accused
of having any inappropriate contact with minors.  He was convicted of
indecent assault and battery in 1988 and is registered as a Level One
low-risk sex offender in Massachusetts but he is accused of failing to
register in the New Hampshire communities where he work, as state law
requires.
