DA: VINCENT SPARAGANO CONVICTED OF CHILD PORN POSSESSION

Vincent Sparagano, the 44 year old former director in a Lindenhurst community theater group,The Spotlight Players, was convicted Tuesday of possessing child pornography. Sparagano, of530 South Ninth Street, Lindenhurst, was found guilty in a jury trial of four felony counts ofpossessing a sexual performance by a child. He was found not guilty of four felony counts ofpromoting a sexual performance by a child. Sparagano faces up to 1 1/13 years to 4 years inprison on each count, which could run consecutive because of his possession of four separate imagesof child pornography. He was registered as a sex offender and was remanded on a bail of$50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. Detectives from the Suffolk County police Computer CrimesUnit, assisting probation officers, found images of child pornography on his computer in2012. At the time, he was on probation for a prior conviction of endangering the welfare of ateenager active in The Spotlight Players. He was arrested on child porn charges in September2012.
