EX-JAIL GUARD PLEADS GUILTY IN TEEN PORN CASE

Jeffrey Skya, a 47 year old New York City correction officer from Bethpage, was arrested Monday afternoon after he showed up for a date with someone he believed was a 14 year old boy.  Instead, he met with Nassau County district attorney investigators, who swarmed around him, took him into custody and charged him with four counts of first degree attempted disseminating indecent material to minors.  An investigator with their task force, known as Operation Teensaver, posed as a 14 year old boy in a chat room.  Skya first contacted the undercover investigator on July 8 and, despite the decoy repeatedly telling Skya that he was 14, continued to send exceedingly graphic instant messages.  Skya is the father of two boys.  He has been suspended without pay from his position at Rikers Island until his case is resolved in the courts.  If he is found guilty, he will be terminated.  He was arraigned yesterday and posted $2,500 bail.

Skya faces up to six months in jail after pleading guilty January 7 to sending pornographic images over the Internet to a 15 year old boy in Nassau County.  After being arrested at the meeting with the 14 year old he was immediately charged with three counts of attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors.  District attorney's office invesitgators then executed a search warrant of Skya's America Online E-mail account and discovered he had sent a photo of a penis to the 15 year old boy.
