EX-UCLA WATER POLO PLAYER PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO RAPE

Hakop Jack Kaplanyan, a 19 year old former UCLA water polo player, pleaded not guilty onMonday after being indicted on felony rape and other charges.  He is charged with one felonycount each of forcible rape, false imprisonment by violence, possession of matter depicting a minorengaging in sexual conduct and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery by restraint.  He alsofaces two felony counts each of sexual penetration by a foreign object and assault with the intentto commit rape.  The charges involve three women, all UCLA students, in attacks that happenedbetween October 2012 and April 2013.  Kaplanyan was previously arrested in April after a womanaccused him of raping her in a campus dorm room, but he claimed the sex was consensual.
