Heather Shelton, a 22 year old teacher's assistant at North Buncombe High School in NorthCarolina, was charged with sexual activity with a 19 year old student.  In North Carolina itis a felony for any teacher to have sex with a student regardless of the age of the student. Shelton and the unnamed 19 year old, who was not her student, had sex April 1.  If they hadwaited two months until he graduated, no charges would have been filed.
