HERO BROOKLYN MOM THWARTS BABY-SNATCH BID: COPS

Tara Anne McDonald, a 35 year old who has a history of harassing mothers in the neighborhood and staring at children in a bizarre manner, was arrested for trying to snatch an 8 month old baby out of her stroller.  The woman has a bizarre fixation on young children and a history of arrests fro kidnap attempts.  The baby's mother saved her daughter when she swung away the stroller and screamed for help as the incident unfolded shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Clinton and Montague streets.  Three hours later they found McDonald and the distraught mom identified her.  McDonald has 10 prior arrests -- including five for attempted kidnapping of children.  It was not immediately known what the other five arrests were for.
