KIDDIE PERV COP GUILTY

William Cuba, a 25 year old cop assigned to Harlem, is accused of having a secret, disgusting obsession: collecting child pornography.  Cuba, a Washington Heights resident assigned to the 28th Precinct in Central Harlem, was arrested January 29, 2005, after an anonymous tipster reported him to the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau.   He was initially charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography but as many as 100 incriminating pictures were confiscated.

At least two NYPD cops were nabbed in the FBI's multiyear investigation of the notorious Candyman Web site, which netted 26 people in the New York area and more than 100 people nationwide.  One, former PBA delegate Brian Mathews, was fired after he was found guilty by a department tribunal of ordering child porn through the mail.  He pleaded guilty of federal porn charges in 2002 after admitting he had looked at some child porn on the Internet.  Another officer, John Hudak, was also arrested as part of the Candyman investigation and sentenced to 27 months in prison.

Cuba pleaded guilty on May 4, 2006, to possessing 53 pieces of child pornography in his apartment and his police locker.  He was sentenced to 10 years probation in a plea agreement.  He'll be back in court July 6 for a hearing to determine at what level he'll be entered into the state sex offender registry.
