Lauren Redfern, a 25 year old physical education teacher at Basalt High School, was bookedon suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old student.  She was charged withsexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a pattern of sexual abuse. In 2010, the high school hired her to coach the girls’ basketball team and a gymteacher.  In Colorado, a 17 year old can have consensual sexual relations with an adult aslong as that person does not hold a position of trust, such as a teacher.
