LAW LIMITS WHERE SEX OFFENDERS CAN LIVE

The Glen Cove City council unanimously approved an ordinance that would prohibit convicted sex offenders from living near day care centers, a ban that would take the proposed law one step further than the county's.  Lawmakers in Glen cove and Long Beach have chosen to significantly expand on restrictions passed by county legislators last April that prohibited offenders from living near schools and parks.  By banning sex offenders from living within a 1,000 feet of day care centers as well as schools, the city's law is one of the more restrictive on Long Island.
