LONG ISLAND MAN IS CHARGED IN RAPE OF WOMAN

Claude Solomon, a 26 year old man from Baldwin, was arrested on Thursday and accused ofkidnapping a 19 year old woman in Queens, then raping her in his car and videotaping theattack.  Solomon told the woman he was a police officer and showed her his dead father's NewYork City transit police badge.  He is charged with second degree kidnapping, sodomy, rape andcriminal impersonation.  Solomon picked up the woman near Queens Plaza around 3:30 a.m.Thursday.  She agreed to go with him, but once in the car, he took out the police badge and apellet gun that resembled a .45-caliber gun.  When the woman refused to have sex, Solomonhandcuffed her, covered her head with a sweater and drove to Baldwin, where he raped her.
