MAN CHARGED WITH FONDLING GIRL, 12, IN PUBLIC POOL

Michael D. Mathelier, a 22 year old Queens man, was arrested and charged with fondling a 12 year old girl in the East Bathhouse pool at Jones Beach on Thursday.  He was arrested after lifeguards called police when the girl told them a man had fondled her in the pool.  The girl pointed him out as the man who had touched her when officers arrived.  He is charged with first degree sexual abuse and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.  He was being held yesterday on $10,000 bond or cash.
