MAN GETS 10 YEARS FOR KILLING COUSIN AT 2007 B.C. HOUSE PARTY

It was supposed to be a scar intended to scare, but it would up severing familial tiesforever and has landed a British Columbia man behind bars for 10 years.  Earlier this week,Supreme Court in New Westminster, B.C. heard James Curtis Bristol, 28, only planned to stab distantcousin Zachary John Douglas, 29, in the face to make him ugly and scare him so he would stopsexually assaulting others.  But Bristol ended up stabbing Douglas in the chest and arm at adrug and alcohol-fueled Maple Ridge, B.C. house party on September 29, 2007.  The woundsturned out to be fatal.  According to the Times, Douglas, an actor who appeared in the movieLegends and TV series The Beachcombers, was banned from the Squamish First Nation reserves in Westand North Vancouver due to allegations of using date-rape drugs and assault at the time of hisdeath.  He was killed before he could face prosecution for his latest incident in January2007.
