Richard Ali, a 27 year old Manhattan biology teacher who was honored for being an outstandingteacher at an all-girls' Catholic school, was charged on March 29, with sexually assaulting twounderage students. Ali, who teaches at Cathedral High School, allegedly had sex with one girl inhis home and car, and molested another girl at a Queens movie theater. He was arraigned on chargesof statutory rape, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He was ordered held on $40,000bail. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.

Ali was arraigned for a second time on April 26 for raping or molesting three others. He wascharged with rape, criminal sexual act, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse.
