PERV-RELEASE RULING IN NEW JERSEY

A state appeals court has ruled that sex offenders who show that they can adhere to restrictions that would substantially reduce the risk of their committing further offenses can be authorized for release.  The ruling stems from a suit filed by a 68 year old man who was involuntarily committed to further custody after completing two prison terms for molesting young boys.  Although the decision, which was issued last week, did not order the man's release, it did return the case to trial court.
