POLICEMAN ARRESTED OVER RAPE OF WOMAN WHO CALLED 999 FOR HELP

A police officer has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman while he was on duty. Scotland Yard said the policeman, who is in his 30s, has been suspended pending aninvestigation.  The alleged rape took place after the woman called 999 because of a drunkenrow with her boyfriend, she was left alone in her flat with the officer after his colleaguesarrested her boyfriend for allegedly assaulting her.  He allegedly encouraged her to drinkhalf a bottle of whiskey before forcing her to perform a sex act.  The incident comes as theIndependent Police complaints commission reports a 30 percent rise in the number of complaints ofsex assaults by police in the UK.  There were 114 complaints of sex attacks last year.
