POLS PUSH TO PUT ‘WORST’ SEX SICKOS IN MENTAL WARDS

Local lawmakers are renewing a push to get the worst of the worst sexual predators committed to mental institutions.  Advocates launched a new campaign in support of a bill that would allow the state to hold sexual deviants after they've finished their prison terms, following a Post investigation that uncovered scores of released pedophiles living alarmingly close to schools.  Statistics show that pedophiles repeat their crimes at a higher rate than other criminals.  According to the bill, freed offenders would be committed to a mental institution and be subject to an annual psychiatric evaluation.  If an offender is found to be rehabilitated, he could petition for release.
