PREDATORS FEEL STING (Nassau ‘cybersex’ operation nets 21 arrests in cases involving men seeking young girls on Internet)
Twenty-one men were arrested in a four-month-long undercover sting that targeted sexual predators who troll the Internet looking for underage victims. While all of the men arrested were charged with disseminating indecent material to minors - either in the form of sexually explicit e-mails or photographs - six were arrested after they actually showed up at an undisclosed house hoping to meet up with a 13 or 14 year old girl. Some pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial, others pleaded guilty and are awaiting their sentence or are already behind bars. Some have had warrants issued for their arrest. Among those arrested were Fred Volkmer, 62, of Hampton Bays, he formerly served as the deputy treasurer of the Village of Southampton and worked as a book reviewer for the New York sun and Southampton Press; Mathew Bilyk, 59, of Huntington Station, worked formerly as a Transportation Security Administration agent; Michael Bianco, 27, of Roslyn; Christopher Aquino, 41, of Levittown; Darin Horton, 40 of Lindley, NY., a racecar pit crew technician; Irving Kamsler, 60, a CPA from the Bronx; and Michael Savelli, 45, a lawyer from Deer Park; one was a Starbucks barista and others had worked for the Department of Homeland Security.
