RAPE CHARGES LAND BUS DRIVER ON LEAVE

Andrew Hamil, a 27 year old bus driver for the South Huntington school district who was arrested on district property on rape charges more than two months ago, was placed on administrative leave yesterday.  Hamil, of 70 Mulford Street, Huntington Station, was arrested at the district's transportation facility in September and charged with first degree rape.  Free on $50,000 bond, Hamil continued to drive school buses because district officials did not know the seriousness of the crimes he was charged with.  A grand jury had indicted Hamil on first and third degree rape and first degree sexual abuse charges among others.
