ROBERT DEWEY, MAN CONVICTED IN 1994 IN COLORADO, FREED BY DNA EVIDENCE

Robert Dewey was 33 when he went to prison for the 1994 rape and murder of 19 year old JacieTaylor. The now 51 year old walked away Monday after new testing of DNA evidence pointed tosomeone else as the suspect. He was sentenced in 1996 to life in prison without parole afterhe was convicted of killing Jacie, who was found dead in her bathtub. Advanced DNA testscleared Dewey and have led to an arrest warrant being issued for Douglas Thames, who is accused offirst degree murder and first degree sexual assault. Thames had lived near Jacie and his DNAprofile is linked to evidence found in her apartment. Thames is already serving a lifesentence for a 1989 murder in Fort Collins.
