‘SCUM’ RAPIST LOSES APPEAL

Thomas Wallis, a 49 year old upstate child rapist, had his appeal of conviction for rape and sodomy denied last week by an appeals panel that brushed aside his claim that being called scum and a predator by a judge warranted a new trial.  Wallis was prosecuted in 1999 for sexually assaulting the teen daughter of his live-in girlfriend.
