SECOND TEEN ATTACKED IN MASTIC BEACH
Suffolk detectives are scouring Mastic Beach in search of a man who they say attacked and sexually assaulted a 17 year old high school student as she walked to school yesterday, the second such attack on a student there in three days. The girl was attacked about 8:30 a.m. on her way to William Floyd High School by a man who jumped out of a patch of woods, struck her in the face, wrestled her to the ground and fondled her. The girl screamed, punched and fought off her attacker, who ran off, allowing her to run home,
notify her parents and call police. The attack was on Mastic Road and Lincoln Avenue. The two attacks, the other when a 14 year old girl was attacked and sexually assaulted as she cut class and tried to socialize with friends at a trailer near the school, are unrelated according to police. In that incident, Gary Meenahan, was arrested. Anyone with information about the incident please call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
