SENTENCE IS 14 YEARS FOR RAPE OF GIRL, 11
Lamar McClendon, a 48 year old Hempstead man who prosecutors say tied up, raped and impregnated his former girlfriend's 11 year old daughter, was sentenced yesterday to 14 years in prison. The girl had to go out of state to get an abortion while six months pregnant because late term abortions are not legal in New York. Over a period of six months, McClendon would often sexually abuse the girl when her mother was not home. In one case, he tied the girl to a bed using extension cords covered her mouth with duct tape and raped her. The girl kept the incidents a secret until one of her teachers noticed she began wearing baggy clothes and took her to lunch to talk to her. She wrote the teacher a note saying I was raped. Before receiving his sentence, McClendon said in court that he was sorry for what happened.
