SEVEN MONTH INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN SEX CRIMES ARREST IN CLARE COUNTY

CLARE COUNTY, Mich. - A 49-year- old Houghton Lake man is now behind bars and facing charges after a seven month investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy.
In February of 2020, a request was made for the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post to assist with the investigation.
According to MSP, the alleged assault reportedly happened in Clare County.
The investigation revealed other attempts to commit sexual assault against other young males within the state.
It also revealed evidence in the man's possessed and manufactured child pornography by the man.
An additional victim was identified through the investigation.
The Houghton Lake man was arrested and charged on Thursday, October 1.
He is charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct-First degree (person under 13), five felony counts of Child Sexually Abusive-Aggravated, five felony counts of Computers-Internet-Communicating with Another to Commit Crime, and two counts of Habitual Offender-Second Offense Notice.
The Michigan Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case.
The MSP Mt. Pleasant Post, Clare Police Department, the MSP Houghton Lake Post, the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, and the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department all assisted with the investigation.
