SEX ABUSE BRITS JAILED IN INDIA (Two British men have been jailed for six years in India for sexually abusing boys at a homeless children’s shelter in Mumbai (Bombay)

Allan Waters, a 58 year old former naval officer from Portchester, Hampshire, and Duncan Grant,61, from London, were both found guilty of child sex abuse. They were both fined E20,000 (US$35,000) each. They will be lodging an appeal. The court hear that they abused boys as young aseight at the shelter. The shelter's Indian manager, William D'souza, was found guilty of aiding andabetting the men and given three years. The court also fined him E64 (US $113). Grant and Watershad been charged with child sex abuse and engaging in unnatural acts with children. Grant has beenin police custody since June 2005. He traveled to Mumbai from London and surrendered before thecourt on the advice of his lawyers. Grant, who also ran children's charities in Tanzania, wasarrested two years ago in Dar es Salaam on an international warrant issued by Indian police inApril 2002. He returned to London after being released on bail. A 2001 police report had chargedhim and Waters with sodomy and sexually abusing boys at the Anchorage shelter, which Grant set upin 1995 for around 90 boys aged eight to 18.
